The Tim Murdoch Fund

The Tim Murdoch Fund was established in November 2019 upon the retirement of long-time Head Coach, Tim Murdoch. In 17 years as Head Coach, Tim turned the McGill lacrosse program into a national powerhouse and affected hundreds of young men’s lives. A few of Tim’s achievements include:

  • 2 CUFLA Baggataway Cup Championships (2012, 2015)
  • 9 CUFLA East Pennants (2007, 2011-2017, 2019)
  • 4 Undefeated Regular Seasons (2013-2015, 2019)
  • 4 Harry Griffith Trophies (2008, 2009, 2012, 2015)
  • Overall Record of 190-84-2, winning 69% of games
  • Helped to establish and to endow the C.L.F. Indigenous Lacrosse Scholarship at McGill in 2017 ($100,000+)
  • 2018 recipient of the Honora Shaughnessy Ambassador Award

Our goal

Tim is, and always will be, the face of McGill Lacrosse. To honor him and his impact, our goal is to raise $100,000 to endow a fund in his name.

The Fund’s Mission

The mission of the fund will be to support the most crucial team needs in any given year. Initiatives such as team-building, Baggataway Cup travel, recruiting, coaches’ certification/training, Alumni weekend, or exhibition games are examples of where additional funds will allow the team to maintain excellence. Today, McGill Lacrosse is almost entirely funded by donations and student-athlete fees. Endowing the Tim Murdoch Fund will set the team up for success for years to come and further cement what Tim Murdoch has meant to this program.

Meet Head Coach Nic Soubry

Head Coach Nic Soubry took over the helm for McGill Lacrosse upon Tim’s retirement. Coach Soubry has been around the game his entire life. An Oakville, Ontario native, Nic played both box and field lacrosse growing up. Coach Soubry spent three years in the Junior A as a member of the Burlington Chiefs. He also developed his field game eventually getting recruited by Division 1 NCAA program Sacred Heart University. Upon graduation, he began graduate school at McGill University and joined the lacrosse team as a player in 2014. After playing for one season, Nic transitioned to the defensive coordinator role in 2015. His impact was immediate as that year’s squad went 15-0 and won the Baggataway Cup Championship. We’re in good hands with Head Coach Nic Soubry as we head into the next chapter of McGill Lacrosse.
